John 8:31-32 “If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed. And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.” (KJV)
So often as Christians we are held back spiritually because of certain issues in our life that we don’t follow. Whether it be because of ignorance or rebellion, there are issues in our life’s that are hard to follow. But if we truly want to experience freedom we must be serious about following God’s word according to our finances, serious about following God’s word according to our marriage, serious about our relationship with Jesus Christ. You see it’s one thing as Christians to know the truth and another to live by the truth. When a person has been washed and sanctified by the word you will live by the word. We are living in a day when their is more head knowledge than heart knowledge of the word of God. People know the word but they don’t hide it in their heart. And if its not in the heart it will slip away. But if the word is in the heart you’ll live by the word of God. We as Christians must place the word of God in our heart. Honestly there are certain truths of the word of God that we do struggle with, we know them and we can quote them but when it comes down to obeying them, that’s where we struggle. The bible is full of truths that just simply need to be applied to our lives. Truths that have been proven and tried, truths that work. Nothing changes the lives of people like the Word of God. Hebrews 4:12 ” For the word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit and of the joints and marrow and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. So if you are looking for things to change this year. If you are looking for things to straighten out in 2017, we must abide in the truth of the word of God.
