Psalms 86:11-12 ” Teach me thy way, O Lord; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name. I will praise thee, O Lord my God with all my heart: and I will glorify thy name for evermore.” (KJV)
So often as Christians we look to outside sources for our help when all we need is found in the Word of God. 66 separate books written by some 40 authors all with one theme. God’s love for you. It is so important we walk by the truth, so I challenge you from this point forward don’t just read the bible, let the bible read you. And as you allow the bible to read your heart, it will speak the truth, through the Holy Spirit. Those truths we struggle with those truths we don’t obey have a way of keeping us down. But we can be revived in our life and set free just by simply following God’s Word. Your own opinions and the opinions of others won’t set us free, usually they make things worse. That’s because true freedom comes from God’s word. As Christians sometimes we spend more time reading and following “fake news” which we know is a lie then reading what is the truth. We then wonder why our life is in the shape it is in. So the question we must ask ourselves is what will be your truth? What will be your authority? God’s Word or the world. Will it be what God says is true or public opinion? In 2017 we must learn the way of the Lord and walk in the truths of His ways. It’s not your will that’s going to bring that marriage back together. It’s not your will that’s going to bring those finances back together. It’s not your will that’s going to bring you out of that situation your facing, it’s His will. It’s the truth that will make you free. As you let the bible read you and speak to you we must remember, Isaiah 55:11 ” So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” Can this be the year the word of God grows and multiplies in your life? Can this be the year we become true disciples of Jesus Christ following even the hardest of commands? No more just hearing the word and letting it fall to the wayside, but getting it rooted and grounded deep down in our hearts. Jesus said in Matthew 4:4 ” It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. ” It’s not by worldly means that we are going to survive this jungle of a world we are living in, it’s only by abiding in the truth. John 1:17 ” For the law was given by Moses but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.” John 14:6 ” Jesus said I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me.” It’s time we just quit hearing the truth and its time we have a relationship with the truth. Letting truth triumphant in our hearts and our lives. 1 Thessalonians 2:13 ” For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe. The word of God was not and is not man’s word and until we realize that it is the truth and anything contrary to it is wrong, then we will have struggles. I just wonder if we will give God’s word a chance?
