Obeying the Truth Part 2

JAMES 1:22-23 “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass.” (KJV)

So often we have things backwards in life as we want God to come into our life and do what we want Him to do, when in all reality we are to be doing what He wants us to do. We want God to be our servant, we want God to worship us. But if God is going to be in our life’s, He is not going to take a backseat to anyone. For if He can’t drive, He is not going to ride. So often we say the word does not work, but what we must realize is that to every promise their has to be a act of obedience. The problem is not the Word of God. The problem is we are not in the Word of God. I’m not talking about our name being in the Word of God. I’m talking about applying the Word of God to our life’s and to our situations and problems. It’s more than just knowing the story of David and Goliath or the 3 Hebrew Children in the fiery furnace or Daniel in the Lion’s Den. I’m talking about when your life feels like your going through the fire of sickness or if you have a giant of a problem in front of you that you have no doubt God will deliver you. That your faith will kick in and realize that if the Word of God says He will deliver than He will deliver. So the question is are we in the Word and is the Word in you? When you read these stories of the bible can you see yourself in the situation and apply it to your life? Or are we one of those that say He will never do that for me? Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. What He has done for one He will do for another. So lift up your head and apply the Word to your life and watch as the power of the Holy Spirit works on your behalf. But you have to be obedient to the Word, a doer of the Word and not a hearer only. Stand upon their promise and make it your promise because obedience to that promise will bring about change. There is just something to being obedient to the Word of God that brings us into a whole new realm in our Christian walk and that’s because being obedient to the truth makes you free. I’ve discovered just joining the church won’t change you or just singing in the choir won’t change you. Only being obedient to the Word of God can bring about the change you need because the word does something on the inside, working on the outside that brings a change in you. When you read that we serve a God that one day sentenced you and I to death. Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” That He left heaven to come down to save a wretch like you and I. When we read about the Lord and what He has done for you and I. I can’t help but want to know Him better. The Word of God must be a living, breathing part of our lifestyle. So it’s time to move from what we want to hear, to what the spirit wants us to hear. And if we don’t hear from the spirit we deceive ourselves into thinking everything is o.k. When really we are not hearing  the spirit and the Word is not becoming a part of us. John 16:13 ” Howbeit when He, the spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak and he will shew you things to come.” I have found out the Spirit of the Lord will lead you just as it lead Jesus in the wilderness to the word of God. This is basic but something we all must get back to in our life’s because it is the truth. It’s time we step out into obedience of the word and put the word to work in our life’s. It’s time you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. Obey the Truth!
