Love One Another

John 13: 34-35 ” A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”

We are looking at a truth today that is so very important to our lives, yet is one that is struggled with by so many people. Loving one another is a very hard thing to do for mankind. It is against are fleshly nature to love others like God loves us. That’s why Paul tells is in Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the spirit is love. Love is the very first characteristic a child of God should be living by in their life. In the book of Revelation 2 the church of Ephesus got so caught up in doing everything that they forgot in important ingredient to their walk with God and that was love. They looked very spiritual to man but when God wrote them a letter, it seems they were doing all there Christian things without the love of God. They were not doing the works of God for the right reasons, they had an alternative motive, to make a name for themselves. This is where Christ says I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. The truth of the matter is everything we do for God is in vain if it’s not done out of the love of God. 1 Corinthians 13:13 ” And now abideth faith, hope, charity these three; but the greatest of these is charity. This is the truth every child of God must grasp in their life, for many of us are hindered in our Christian walk because we don’t walk in love. Love has no boundaries, it doesn’t matter race or gender, rich or poor, loveable or unlovable. As disciples of Jesus Christ we are to love like Christ, that is a self-sacrificial love for everyone, as it is Christ desire than none perish but all come to repentance. This self-sacrificial love for all mankind must be found in the child of God for them to walk in the liberty of the Lord. The scripture said By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. Many don’t realize that are behavior tells those we are around whether or not we are Christians. Many of us have done things or said things that we know we should not have done and someone looking on, maybe a family member or a friend, has said and you call yourself a Christian. If we are honest it bothers has and it should bother us because we are to be like Christ. Especially in love for one another. Until man begins to start following this truth there will be tribulation in our life’s, there will be a hindrance in your life, a emptiness. Love can not come from a head knowledge, it must come from the heart. And as with anything if the love is not from the heart it will slip away from our life’s. If our love for Christ is not from the heart it will slip away. If our love for our spouse is not from the heart it will slip away. True love comes from knowing and abiding in Christ. John 15: 9-10 “As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love.” I have watched people’s life’s and listened to people talk and I’m convinced there is a contagious epidemic in our country and it’s called loveless. Loveless is not having any love for one another. Their is no self-sacrificing  any more in this world, it’s all about me. But we as Christians are called to be different because were called to be like Christ. Christ is Love.  What worries me the most as a Pastor is that it is even in the church. Kindness is gone, gentleness is gone, love is gone. Many of us put up a barrier because we have been hurt so often, but if the Christian doesn’t love there will be no love in this world. So the next time that person takes your parking spot, or says something that hurts you, or cuts you off while your driving, smile at them and pray for them. They need your love. You’ll be amazed at the difference you will fill in your life just by showing the love of God. That’s because you are not bound anymore, the truth of love has set you free. You obeyed the truth and the truth shall make you free. We have to get back to loving one another. People are going to say things and do things to hurt us but it’s love that’s going to keep you from retaliating or seeking revenge. It’s love that’s going to keep you from doing something you later regret. It’s love that will keep you walking in freedom.
